I made this biplane for a Christmas present. It is based on plans from Making Heirloom Toys by Jim Makowicki.

Among several other changes, the most noticeable is leaving off the propeller. I thought the propeller would be too easily broken when the kids start playing with it.

The wings are cherry and the body is maple. There is some oak and walnut in there as well.

I made the toy above for one of my nephews. I used a plan from a library book, and I can’t remember the title now. Sorry.

Later, I made the elephant below using a similar shape.

I made this potpourri box with walnut and maple. I used a fret saw to cut out the decoration in the lid.
